2. Introduction

Family Milestones is an iOS app for documenting the development and important milestones of your children. The protection of your personal data – especially the sensitive data of your children – is particularly important to us. This privacy policy informs you about the processing of your data when using our app.

3. Data Processing

3.1 Local Data Storage

Family Milestones stores all data exclusively locally on your device. The following data is collected:

Child Data: First name, last name (optional), date of birth, gender, blood type (optional), birth weight/length (optional), photo (optional)
Growth Data: Height, weight, head circumference with date
Dental Development: Tooth eruption, tooth loss with date and optional photos
Vaccinations: Vaccine name, date, doctor, batch number, notes
Health Data: Allergies, medications, fever measurements
App Settings: Theme, language, measurement units

Important:

All data stays on your device – there is no cloud synchronization
No data is transmitted to our servers
No data is used for advertising purposes
No tracking pixels or analytics services (except anonymized crash reporting)

3.2 No Cloud Synchronization

Family Milestones intentionally does not offer cloud synchronization to ensure the security of sensitive child data. Your data never leaves your device.

3.3 Photo Library Access (optional)

If you allow access to the photo library, you can:

Add photos for child profiles
Save photos of teeth for documentation
All photos are stored exclusively locally

3.4 Notifications (optional)

If you enable notifications:

Reminders for vaccination appointments
Reminders for regular measurements
All notifications are processed locally on the device

3.5 Crash Reporting (Sentry)

We use Sentry for anonymized crash reporting:

No personal data is transmitted
No child data is transmitted
Only technical information about app crashes (device type, iOS version, stack traces)
Helps us improve app stability
GDPR-compliant data processing

4. Special Protection of Child Data

Since Family Milestones processes children’s data, we place particular emphasis on their protection:

Local Storage: All child data remains on your device
No Transmission: Child data is never transmitted to servers
No Sharing: Child data is never shared with third parties
Encryption: iOS native encryption protects the data
Parental Control: Only you have access to the data

5. Legal Basis for Processing

The processing of your data is based on the following legal grounds:

Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (Contract fulfillment): Provision of app functions
Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (Consent): For optional features like photos
Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (Legitimate interest): For crash reporting to improve quality
Art. 9 para. 2 lit. a GDPR (Explicit consent): For health data

6. Data Sharing

Your data is not shared with third parties.

Exceptions:

To Sentry for anonymized crash reporting (no personal data)
To Apple for in-app purchases (only purchase confirmation, no child data)

7. Data Storage and Deletion

7.1 Storage Duration

Your data is stored locally as long as you use the app.

7.2 Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

Individual children: Directly in the app in edit mode
Individual entries: By swiping or in edit mode
All data: Uninstall the app from your device

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights:

Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR): All data is viewable directly in the app
Right to Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): Edit data directly in the app
Right to Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): Delete data directly in the app
Right to Data Portability (Art. 20 GDPR): Export function in the app
Right to Object (Art. 21 GDPR): Object to processing
Right to Lodge a Complaint: With the competent data protection supervisory authority

9. Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures:

Local storage under iOS security mechanisms
iOS Data Protection protects your data when the device is locked
No network transmission of user data
Regular security updates of the app

10. No Profiling

There is no automated decision-making or profiling according to Art. 22 GDPR.

11. In-App Purchases

Premium features are processed through the Apple App Store:

We have no access to your payment data
Payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple
We only receive confirmation of the purchase status
